TRADITIONAL MEETS MODERN IN THIS CUSTOM HOME

Designer Alanna Dunn of Reena Sotropa In House Design Group says this custom home was a true collaboration. “It was designed for two young clients, Alyssa and Steve, who recently welcomed their first baby,” she says. Alyssa, a graphic designer, would put together beautiful conceptual presentations ahead of each design meeting, sharing her vision of a tailored interior that would blend the warm elements of traditional design with the clean-lined details of a more modern aesthetic.

“It’s quite atypical that a client offers such accurate design direction that early in a project,” Alanna admits. “I am usually trying to pull these details out of my clients to bring their design to life.” Working with local architectural firm Andison Residential and builder Dream Ridge Homes, the space project held a steady pace over the course of 2020 and early 2021, with the family moving in last April.

DRH WINS 2020 BUILDER OF THE YEAR by Luke obodzinski

Pop! Fizz! Clink!

Awards season has been immeasurably good to us, friends. Dream Ridge Homes has been named 2020 Builder of the Year Small Volume Single Family category by BILD Calgary Region Awards, honouring the very best in the building industry each year.

To start the season with three projects finalists in separate Best New Home categories was thrilling enough, then this week to win two of these categories in staggered announcements for our Contemporary West Coast Home in Mount Royal and Modern Brownstone in Marda Loop, has been simply incredible and unexpected.

“We couldn’t have been more surprised and humbled,” says Mark Obodzinski, President of Dream Ridge Homes. “On behalf of my business partners, Tom and Luke, I’d like to acknowledge that without the support of our families, the faith of our clients, and the unrivalled talent of our design and construction teams, the past 17 years wouldn’t have been possible, let alone this incredible honour.”

“I think it can be said that Dream Ridge worked very hard to come out ahead this past year, and for that your entire team should be proud,” commends Brian Hahn, Chief Executive Officer, BILD Calgary Region. “2020 was a year like no other for all of us, professionally and personally. Our industry pivoted quickly, introducing innovations and protocols to safely facilitate home sales, renovations and business operations. Dream Ridge kept building safely, helping people realize the dream of owning a home they love. Dream Ridge, like all BILD members, continued to innovate and create beautiful spaces, making homes more enjoyable for families spending a lot more time there.”

When Joel Forrest and Stephanie Nagel saw that their family was going to need room to grow, they decided to go the custom-build route to make the space they needed. Forrest and Nagel are busy lawyers with two children, aged seven and 10. The couple and their kids are all active skiers and that gear-heavy hobby, coupled with their kids’ teenage years just around the corner, meant the family needed to look for a bigger home.

It turned out they didn’t have to go far to find the site for the new home of their dreams. Forrest and Nagel already loved living in Briar Hill and, as luck would have it, they found a walkout lot less than a kilometre away from their previous home. The site for their new build had one particularly significant challenge, however: a 30-foot slope. They would be building from the ground up, and up, and up…

DREAM RIDGE HOMES SHINES AMONGST CALGARY’S FINEST BUILDERS by Clare McWilliams

ACS_0067.JPG

On Saturday, April 14th, Dream Ridge Homes attended our first BILD Calgary Chapter Annual Awards Gala. And on Saturday, Dream Ridge Homes officially became an award-winning builder – twice over – taking both of the Best New Home categories that we were nominated for!

If that wasn’t thrilling enough, a third honour was received amongst the Grand Awards of the evening, naming us Runner-Up Builder of Merit for small volume builder of the year.

We joined BILD Calgary Region as an inaugural member just last year, so to say that we’re proud of our debut result amongst such accomplished peers is a gross understatement.

The support of our family, friends and colleagues is invaluable, keeping us focused, hungry and humble, always. It feels fantastic to have your blood and sweat recognized at this level.

With wider smiles and prouder hearts, your congratulatory messages have been touching and appreciated. We share these awards with you!
